  Michael Krayniak

Get to know the man behind "the big stick", Trigger Gospel’s bassist, Michael Krayniak.

Musical Influences:
Andon and Paul, Edgar Meyer, Charlie Haden, John Taylor, Geddy Lee, XTC, Sting, Peter Tork.

First Record Bought:
Billy Squier In the Dark and maybe 90120 by Yes. I can’t really remember. Don’t judge me.

Favorite Record:
I have to say Leo Kottke’s 6 and 12 String Guitar because it was the first time I had ever heard anyone do anything that complete with a solo musical instrument. Plus I was whacked out on drugs.

What’s in your CD player right now?
Arling & Cameron, Radiohead, Kind of Blue, Minutemen, London Calling.

First concert attended:
Styx Paradise Theater Tour, Rosemont Horizon. I was eleven. The very first time I smelled pot smoke and saw people French-kissing.

First band you were in:
Buddha’s Belly. I played guitar and a local college reviewer called my playing "tinsel-strummed."

Your ultimate rock moment:
Skinning a dead goat in a car in Austin.

Favorite Trigger Gospel gig?
Opening for Peter Himmelman at the House of Blues. He appropriated us (Andon, Paul and I) as his back up band. We made up song on the spot in front of some 1,000 people. "Give me a Mingus groove."
